Natural Treatments That Minimize Appearance Of Scars

Some people don't mind their scars. They can be cool and unique looking. For others, however, they wish the scars would disappear or wouldn’t be as noticeable. There are natural remedies that really do minimize the appearance of scars and also accelerate the healing of wounds.

Herbs, Oils, Aloe Vera, and Raw Honey.

Herbal actives which include anti-inflammatories, antioxidants, active phytochemicals, vitamins, and minerals support and accelerate wound healing and the regeneration of connective tissue. Using herbs through oil infusions is most ideal, as the carrier oils provide rich fatty acids and nutrient-dense benefits that help break up scar tissue.

There are many herbs to use for infusions that help with scarring. Here are some of my favorites: chickweed, bilberry, rosemary, lavender, calendula, eyebright, slippery elm, skullcap, neem, fennel, alfalfa, rose hips, dandelion. Herbs assist the body to support cell regeneration and new cell growth, reduce inflammation, and protect from infection which accelerates healing.

Hemp, sunflower, almond, sea buckthorn, olive, marula, argan, rosehip, neem, and many other nut and seed oils help reinforce the mantle barrier and increase new cell formation.

If you don’t have the time or desire to make your own plant infusion oil, I suggest using our Herbal Infusion Oil. The Herbal Infusion Oil is a rich concentration of potent healing herbs in rich fatty acid carrier oils.

Aloe vera gel contains over 200 bioactive constituents, rich phytochemical nutrients including enzymes, polysaccharides, sterols, antioxidants, glycoproteins, fatty acids, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals.

Aloe vera helps heal burns, psoriasis, eczema, cuts, and wounds of all kinds, by speeding healing with plant hormones called Auxins and Gibberellins, stimulating cell replication. Aloe vera protects the healing process from infection though it’s antibacterial, antimicrobial, anti-viral, anti-fungal properties. Aloe vera contains B-Sisterole a fatty acid that helps reduce and inhibit inflammation, a major function in the body's healing process. Aloe vera also contains Glucomannans, a unique cell that works to repair damaged tissue.

Raw honey has been used medicinally for centuries and is incredible at assisting the body in healing and assuaging the appearance of scars. Raw honey is the base of our Active Enzyme Exfoliator. Raw honey contains powerful natural antioxidants, antibacterial agents, anti-inflammatories and is a natural humectant trapping in hydration, stimulating circulation, and facilitating the body's healing process. I recommend raw honey to help minimize scars, but do not use it on open wounds.

Use one or all three treatments. If you are applying all three in a row, I suggest starting with the honey because it needs to be wiped off. You want to leave the aloe vera and the herbal infused oils on your skin.

Massage the honey into the scar for 10 to 20 seconds or longer. Allow it to sit for 3 minutes. If you have time, allow it to sit for 20 minutes. Wipe away honey with a warm wrung-out washcloth.

Next, apply the aloe vera gel and massage into the scar for 10 to 20 seconds or longer. Then apply the herbal infused oil and massage again, leaving it on the skin to absorb. Apply these treatments as often as possible. The herbal infused oil is the easiest to apply most often.

To really help minimize scarring, the secret is continued application! You have to develop the habit of applying the treatments frequently. Take the oil with you and keep it in your handbag so you can apply it throughout the day.
