You probably known Calendula by its more common name, Marigold. Calendula is a member of the Daisy family, and is native to most of the Mediterranean to parts of the Middle East.
The flower petals are used fresh in salads or dried and used as a spice. They are delicious and are also high in flavonols and saponins. Calendula extracts are known for their anti-inflammatory and anti-viral properties, and have been used to soothe skin irritations, help wounds heal, and as a treatment for acne.
