Natural Treatments That Minimize Appearance Of Scars

Some people don't mind their scars. They can be kind of cool looking and unique. For others however, they wish the scars would disappear or wouldn’t be as noticeable. There are natural remedies that really do minimize the appearance of scars and also help wounds heal faster.
Herbs, Oils, Aloe Vera and Raw Honey.
Herbs are the ticket to getting the highest concentration of active regenerating constituents into the body. Anti inflammatories, antioxidants, active phytochemicals, vitamins and minerals support and accelerate wound healing and regeneration of connective tissue. Using herbs through oil infusions is most ideal, as the carrier oils provide rich fatty acids and nutrient dense benefits that help break up scar tissue, without preservatives and or alcohol found in over-the-counter herbal extracts.
There are many herbs to use for infusions that help with scarring. Here are some of my favorites: chickweed, bilberry, rosemary, lavender, calendula, eyebright, slippery elm, skullcap, neem, fennel, alfalfa, rose hips, dandelion. These herbs assist the body to support cell regeneration and new cell growth, reduce inflammation, and protect from infection which accelerates healing.
Hemp, sunflower, almond, sea buckthorn, olive, marula, argan, rose hip, neem and many, many other nut and seed oils help break up scar tissue.
To make an herbal infusion, place dry herbs in a clean, dry glass jar 1/2 to 3/4 full then add carrier oil leaving 1 to 2 inches room at top and secure lid tightly. Place inside a sunny window and allow the herbs to infuse for 2 weeks. Give it a shake everyday. Strain out the herbs using a cheese cloth, and place oil in a glass bottle, preferably with a dropper and apply the oil frequently.
If you don’t have the time or desire to make your own plant infusion oil, I suggest using my Herbal Infusion Oil or Deep Hydrating Serum - both are infused with potent healing herbs in rich fatty acid carrier oils. The Deep Hydrating Serum has a higher concentration of active herbal constituents.
Aloe vera gel contains over 200 bioactive constituents, rich phytochemical nutrients including enzymes, polysaccharides, sterols, antioxidants, glycoproteins, fatty acids, amino acids, vitamins and minerals.
Aloe vera helps heal burns, psoriasis, eczema, cuts and wounds of all kinds, by speeding healing with plant hormones called Auxins and Gibberellins, stimulating cell replication. Aloe vera protects the healing process from infection though it’s antibacterial, antimicrobial, anti-viral, anti fungal properties. Aloe vera contains B-Sisterole a fatty acid which helps reduce and inhibit inflammation, a major function in the bodies healing process. Aloe vera also contains Glucomannans, a unique cell that works to repair damaged tissue.
Raw honey has been used medicinally for centuries and is incredible at assisting the body in healing and assuaging the appearance of scars. Raw honey contains powerful natural antioxidants, anti bacterial agents, anti inflammatories and is a natural moisturizer trapping in hydration and stimulating circulation, all facilitating the bodies healing process. I recommend raw honey to help minimize scars, but do not recommend using on open wounds as the sugars can cause complications.
Side note: There is little modern research to back up these claims for raw honey, but I’m personally not seeking approval from the food and drug industry in this country that works directly with the pharmaceutical industry and continues to flood our market with “approved” carcinogenic ingredients in our food and beauty products and promote toxic pharmaceuticals as an answer. It’s very common for large corporations to fund expensive, biased research as well, to promote their crappy products. The pharmaceutical industry also loves to discredit natural remedies - because they are often extremely effective and preventive when used correctly and holistically.
Use one or all three treatments. If you are applying all three in a row, I suggest starting with the honey because it needs to be wiped off. You want to leave the aloe vera and the herbal infused oils on your skin.
Massage the honey into scar for 10 to 20 seconds or longer. Allow it to sit for 3 minutes. If you have time, allow it to sit for 20 minutes. Wipe away honey with warm wrung out wash cloth.
Next, apply the aloe vera gel and massage into scar for 10 to 20 seconds or longer. Then apply the herbal infused oil and massage again, leaving it on the skin to absorb. Apply these treatments as often as possible. The herbal infused oil is the easiest to apply most often.
To really help minimize scarring, the secret is constant application! You have to develop the habit of applying the treatments frequently. Take the oil with you and keep it in your handbag so you can apply it throughout the day.
Constantly massaging the oils, aloe vera and/or the raw honey into the scarred areas with regularity will increase fading and healing naturally, without side effects.
